Position Summary
LNV Innovations is seeking a Relay Settings Engineer to support utility and power delivery projects involving protective relay settings, protection and control engineering, SCADA integration, and substation modernization. This is a remote, part-time role with a workload based on project needs and client schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop protective relay settings packages for utility and industrial power systems.
- Prepare relay setting calculations, the basis of settings documents, and technical reports.
- Program and configure SEL and other microprocessor relays using AcSELerator QuickSet.
- Perform relay coordination studies and fault analysis using ASPEN OneLiner and/or Siemens CAPE.
- Develop protection and control schemes from 34.5kV through 500kV.
- Create relay logic diagrams and protection schematics.
- Support transmission and substation protection schemes.
- Interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Support IEC 61850 and SCADA integration.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 2 to 5+ years of relay settings, protection and control, or power systems engineering experience.
- Experience with SEL relay configuration and settings development.
- Strong understanding of protective relaying fundamentals.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GE, ABB, Alstom, or Siemens relays.
- Experience with transmission and substation protection.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 and SCADA/RTU integration.
- Experience in preparing technical reports and QA/QC reviews.
- Familiarity with PTC Mathcad.
